How client reports often leave

  • PDFs go out as plain email attachments
  • One mistyped address exposes a balance sheet
  • Online encryption sites receive the files unprotected

With PDF Protect Plus

  • Each PDF is protected on your computer before it is sent
  • A whole batch of client documents in one operation
  • Nothing goes through a third-party server
  • Named licences for your whole team

The question we get

Your computer can already protect a PDF. Why pay?

Your word processor or your computer’s PDF viewer can put a password on a document. For the occasional PDF, they are enough. PDF Protect Plus is for when you send often, to many clients.

Forty PDFs, one password per client, in one go

Sending the same kind of document to many clients? Import your password spreadsheet: each file gets its client’s password, and the app flags what needs checking before it protects anything.

Financial statements

Balance sheets, income statements and cash flow reports exported from your accounting software. Merge them with the notes, number the pages and save one protected copy per client.

Payroll reports

Pay registers and payroll summaries list names, pay rates and withholdings. Protect them with AES-256, and optionally restrict printing or copying; how strictly those limits apply depends on the PDF reader.

Supporting documents

Receipts, bank statements and invoices often arrive as scans. On desktop, gather them into one packet, make the scans searchable with OCR, then protect the result.

Year-end files

Year-end packages for your client or their tax preparer combine many PDFs. Desktop automation assembles a folder, adds a cover page and table of contents, numbers the pages and protects the file.

Frequently asked questions

Are my financial PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. PDF operations run on your device, and your PDFs are never sent to our servers. Your account, subscription and device access are managed online, so they require an internet connection.

Does this replace my accounting software?

No. Export your reports as PDFs from your existing software, then use PDF Protect Plus to prepare and protect them.

Which computer should I use?

Use the Windows or compatible macOS desktop app for this workflow, including OCR and automation. Check the current installer requirements on the download page before subscribing.

Will the original report change?

Processing creates a new copy. Keep your original reports and review the output before sharing it.

Can I protect a whole batch of client files at once?

Yes. Batch protection secures up to 200 PDFs in one pass: with one shared password, a generated password for each file, or each client’s own password taken from your spreadsheet.

How do I create the client password spreadsheet?

In any spreadsheet app, type client, password and, if needed, file in row 1, then one row per client with the name written as in their files, and save as CSV. Every step is shown in the guide “How to Create Your Client Password Spreadsheet (CSV)” on our blog.

What if I forget a password?

It cannot be recovered, by you or by us. Keep each password somewhere safe, such as the encrypted local vault in the app, and never in the same email as the file.

Can I add people from my team?

Team packs are available. Each person uses their own account and occupies a license. See the current plans for included licenses and prices.

The files your clients trust you to keep private.

Bookkeeping work ends in PDFs that carry bank balances, wages and tax IDs. Each one deserves a password before it leaves your desk.

Metadata cleanup removes hidden document properties such as author and software. It does not redact what is visible on the pages.

PDF Protect Plus works with exported PDF files. It does not connect directly to QuickBooks or Xero, and it does not send emails for you.
